2 Koi, King Cups &Reflections

A complex and unusual composition. It started as a linocut of 2 Koi on watercolour paper and was to have just a couple of King Cups on the edge. Following visits to the ponds of Pinetum Gardens, Holmbush, St. Austell and the Japanese Gardens, St. Mawgan I decided to make more of the water and what lay beneath. Perhaps just add a few leaves from the passing years on the bed of the ponds? Then there was the pale spring sky, washing across the water's surface and broken by the shadows of the over-hanging trees. These, in turn, allow us the see more of the of the leaf litter. So much to see - so much to do! Logic tells me that I should have taken the shadows of the tree over the Koi but......I haven't. Nothing arty, just a decision.
