Original Gyotaku monoprint Gyo = Fish, Taku = rubbing or impression in Japanese.
Hand printed and hand painted onto handmade paper using a real fish. Using fish from Stevenson’s of Newlyn, local fishermen from Mevagissey or the Helford River. The papers are bright and colourful. I give the colours food associated names. Wrasse on lemon, on raspberry, on oyster, on lime, on redcurrant etc. Every piece is hand printed using acrylic paint and then fins, eyes and highlights are painted using gouache. Each Gyotaku is a unique, original artwork.
