I am an artist working a range of media and styles. I specialise in landscapes and plants. My work reflects the landscape of Cornwall were I live and work.

My watercolour range focuses mainly on plants and flowers. They are heavily influenced by the Japanese Ukiyo-e woodblock prints with their fading colours in the background, black ink outlines, sweeping, diagonal composition and long slim formats. I travel across the county to heritage gardens such as Trebah or Lanhydrock to sketch and collect images of plants or return to the wonderful garden at our family home.
Paintings are mounted in white/antique white card and not posted in frames.

My range of acrylics on canvas cover a wide range of themes that reflects the colours and textures of the Cornish landscape. From the calm of woodlands and rivers, to the ruggedness of the moors and coastline. From the blaze of colour of flowers in our Cornish hedgerows & gardens to the paraphernalia of the fishing trade on the quayside, there is something for all to enjoy.
Canvases are on a wooden stretcher but are not framed. Canvases can be removed from the stretcher and posted in a roll of easier transport.

Gyotaku – Monoprinting with real fish! (‘Gyo’ = fish, ‘taku’ = impression or rubbing in Japanese). The traditional method used by Japanese fishermen to record their catch. They would coat the fish in squid ink and then throw the fish on the deck where it would leave an impression of their ‘trophy’ catch.
I use acrylic ink rather than squid ink for the initial monoprint. I then use acrylic or gouache to paint in the eyes and highlight the fins. Although 15 – 25 pieces may be printed with one fish during a session no one piece is the same as another, each piece is different and an original.

Limited edition, from a short run of 50. Each design is adapted from one of my original watercolour and acrylic paintings. These delicate scarves are designed as a fashion focal point or as an accessory to enhance other garments. The lightweight, sheer quality of the fabric means that the design can be seen on both sides. Each scarf is sold in its own presentation box with its unique limited edition number and signed and authenticated by myself.
