2 Gurnard On Mottled Coral
An original Gyotaku monoprint. Gyo = Fish, Taku = rubbing or impression in Japanese. I use this historic technique to produce these unique artworks.
Hand printed and hand painted onto handmade paper using a real fish. I use fish from Stevenson’s of Newlyn, local fishermen from Mevagissey or the Helford River. Every piece is hand printed using acrylic paint and then fins, eyes and highlights are painted using gouache. Each Gyotaku is a unique, original artwork. The handmade papers are bright and colourful. I give the colours food associated names. Wrasse on lemon, on raspberry, on oyster, on lime, on Redcurrant etc.
